Adware Author Reveals Secrets

Adware Author Reveals Secrets

Adware Author Reveals Secrets

If you’ve ever wondered where adware comes from, or what motivates anyone to write adware, take a few minutes to read the interview with an adware author that appeared on the Web site philosecurity. Adware doesn’t come from just anywhere. It’s designed to do what it does by specific people for specific reasons, none of which will be appealing to you.

What’s at stake? Your personal privacy, for starters. Your credit card information. Your account numbers. Your buying habits. Your browsing habits. As time goes on, your privacy becomes more difficult to maintain. Unscrupulous “ad-supported” software steals what should be yours alone.

Reclaiming Your Privacy

The first step in protecting your privacy is to make sure that adware, spyware and malware doesn’t touch your computer, capture your personal information and browsing habits, or share that information with third parties you don’t even know. XoftSpy SE can help you find and remove the adware, spyware and malware that may already be infecting your computer and robbing it of the performance you expect.

XoftSpy SE can also help prevent malware infections from interrupting your life. Simply download the protection you need. A simple installation means that you don’t have to deal with the most malicious spyware, adware and malware that is circulating today.

XoftSpy SE uses a database of more than 40,000 known spyware, adware and malware programs, and has the ability to detect new malware that’s constantly being introduced. Why put yourself at risk when XoftSpy SE is readily available and can prevent this kind of intrusion?

It’s More That Just Your Privacy

Adware does more than just pop up advertisements you don’t want to see. Adware is often combined with spyware that monitors your browsing habits and attempts to manipulate you by delivering ads that target your browsing. If that’s all it did, you might be able to tolerate it, but advertisers understand that no one really wants to look at ads. To get around this, they combine adware with programs that you might actually like to have.

Unfortunately, these programs may not work, and they rarely tell you what they’re really doing to your computer. They may also disable the programs you want to have on your computer, and replace them with software you don’t want. Why put up with that?

XoftSpy SE is just one download away. You can protect your privacy and reclaim your computer from these malicious software designers once and for all. Don’t delay. Download XoftSpy SE today!

Malware Not Limited To Downloads, Email Links

Malware Not Limited To Downloads, Email Links

If your impression of malware is that it is only delivered by screensaver downloads and email links, you’re likely to have ongoing problems with some of the nastiest malware around. Unfortunately, malware can be delivered in many ways, as Trend Micro demonstrated last week when it snagged fake LinkedIn profiles loaded with malware links.

The fake profiles encouraged users to visit with names like Beyonce Knowles Nude and Kate Hudson Nude. Links within the fake profile take the user to malware sites. Speculation is that links within the LinkedIn system will make these malicious sites receive better Google page ranks in search engine results.

Last week, Twitter, a SMS service that appeals to 20-somethings, also experienced some user security issues. While it’s unlikely that very many visitors have been caught by infected LinkedIn profiles, it underscores the emerging importance of being careful when using social media tools.

A malware link can be anywhere, so its exceptionally important to have up-to-date malware protection on your computer. XoftSpy SE offers comprehensive malware protection and gives you the control over your desktop that you need to keep your own computing environment safe.

Malware is more than a nuisance. It is a genuine security threat. Malware can do any number of things, from slowing down your computer to forwarding your personal information to third parties, where it can be exploited for someone else’s gain.

What Malware Can Do For You

Malware authors have gotten very creative, and some malware attacks rely heavily on very non-technical routes to reach potential victims. Social engineering is heavily used. After all, when you receive an email from a person you know and trust, you’re more likely to follow the links they recommend.

Unfortunately, this is exactly the behavior that malware creators rely on to spread their misery around. Malware infections are on the rise, and thousands of new varieties are being created (and stopped) every day. The key to protecting your computer, however, is a highly capable anti-malware agent. XoftSpy SE protects against the malware, spyware and adware that can slow your computer performance, monitor your browsing behavior, send unwanted, dangerous or even obscene advertisements to your computer, capture your passwords, account numbers, pin numbers, email address books and more.

Protect your computer and your contacts from malware, spyware and adware infections by choosing one of the most capable anti-malware agents on the market today. Don’t trust your computer to anything less than XoftSpy SE from Spywareblockers.org.

New Gaza Malware Detected

A new malware program takes advantage of the conflict in Gaza to steal passwords. The malware comes from a fake CNN news site that unsuspecting users are being lured to with Gaza-related headlines that arrive via email. The email is embedded with a link that downloads the malware when a user clicks on it. The malware authors have no political relationship to the Gaza conflict. Instead, these hackers are simply using current events to trick users into downloading the malware.

The malicious application steals passwords for online banking sites, retail sites, email, FTP and chat programs, and forwards the information to a host in the Ukraine. The malware is a variant of other recent malware programs including fake emails that purport to be from Classmates.com, Wachovia bank and a fake Obama acceptance speech video.

Most AV Products Won’t Detect This Threat

According to test results conducted at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, only 11 of 38 anti-virus programs were able to correctly identify the malware. The identification of malware is critical in preventing infections. That’s why you need a malware detection product you can trust.

Although we’re just two weeks into the new year, 2009 promises to be extraordinary with respect to the number of malware, spyware and adware programs computer users can expect. The threat of a disastrous cyberattack is so great that this kind of activity is now considered a genuine threat to national security, and one on which the President is briefed. We use the computer to handle so many essential tasks – from shopping to banking to sending and receiving ordinary and sensitive communications – that even relatively unsophisticated tools like malware can have a serious impact.

Tips For Avoiding Adware, Spyware and Malware

Tips For Avoiding Adware, Spyware and Malware

Even though adware, spyware and malware are all well known risks of computer usage, millions of these infections take place each year. There are literally thousands of variations of known spyware, adware and malware programs, and completely unique programs crop up each year. These applications can keep XoftSpy SE busy!

How Do Computers Get Infected With Adware, Spyware and Malware?

Despite the fact that this kind of malware is known, computers are still getting infected, often by tried-and-true techniques that computer users don’t recognize for what they are. Adware, spyware and malware sometimes act like viruses and can have similar effects on an infected computer, but technically, they’re not viruses. These programs do not self-replicate like a virus does. Instead, each affected computer is voluntarily infected by a user, often who is unaware of what they’re actually loading onto the computer.

Adware, spyware and malware may be loaded onto your computer by clicking on links that are embedded in viral email, or that accompany seemingly legitimate programs, free applications or utilities that purport to serve one function, and actually perform other actions surreptitiously.

What Do These Applications Do?

Most often, these applications display advertising that may or may not be related to your browsing. This advertising may include ads and images that you or other users may find offensive and embarrassing.

Additionally, these programs can track your browsing habits, display context-sensitive advertising, hijack a browser session and send you to sites you don’t want to visit. These programs may load other programs onto your computer, track your keystrokes, capture passwords, login IDs and other sensitive information, like credit card numbers and bank information. They also relay this information to a third party, most often to facilitate identity theft.

How Can You Protect Yourself?

By having adequate spyware protection like XoftSpy SE, you can prevent or mitigate most spyware, adware and malware infections. In addition, you can limit the likelihood that these programs will affect you if you follow a few simple rules.

  • Don’t download any application you don’t understand.
  • Read the license agreement fully before you accept an application on your computer. If the license agreement says anything about third party advertising or applications, don’t download it.
  • Be cautious of sites that tell you that you need to download a special viewer or client application to use the site.
  • Don’t ignore symptoms of a spyware or adware infection. If you start receiving popup ads, or your computer takes you to Web sites you didn’t specifically request, scan your computer for malware and clean it off immediately.
  • Don’t store unencrypted account information on your computer, and understand exactly who you’re giving your credit card information to. Some users choose to keep a “dirty” credit card with a relatively low spending limit that they use exclusively for Internet purchases. If the card gets stolen by malware or an unscrupulous site, it can be cancelled immediately and the rest of your personal information is still intact.
  • Update your adware and virus protection regularly. With XoftSpy SE, you can update your software automatically. You don’t have to worry about missing an update, or being left vulnerable by the constant stream of new malware. If you don’t have adequate adware protection, you’re leaving yourself open to some very unpleasant online experiences. Key loggers pose one of the most serious spyware dangers. A key logger is usually a Trojan and captures keyboard input on an infected computer. Once the information has been captured (logged), the Trojan transmits it to a third party. Key loggers are designed to capture account numbers, user names, passwords, credit card numbers and other useful information. Key loggers operate silently in the background. Without appropriate spyware protection, you may never know that a computer has been infected with a key logger.

Last week, three new variants of a known key logger, Lemir, were discovered. Malware programmers create variations to accomplish specific tasks, correct bugs, or to evade anti-malware software. A single malware application can have hundreds of variants. Key loggers are usually tagged as “critical” infections because they can capture and forward sensitive information. It’s important to know when your computer has been infected with a key logger.

    Defending Against Key Loggers

Anti-spyware programs like XoftSpy SE are a good defense against key loggers and other types of malware. With XoftSpy SE, you can be sure that your private information is protected from hackers and third parties who may be looking to steal your identity.
